Hi my beautiful friends! It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a post on here. Maybe it’s partly due to the fact that about 6 months ago (5 1/2 to be exact) COVID 19, social distancing, and wearing a mask were now a top concern. As you probably know, life has sort of turned upside down for a bit.

I’m sure, just like me, all of you are trying to adjust to our new “normal” way of living, after this pandemic has somewhat shut down the world. My first lesson to finding some peace in this chaos was to learn the art of “going with the flow”. Have I mastered it? Absolutely not! Hahaha…. I have many many talks with myself in coercing my mind to let go of things that I do not have control of.

The reality is… making changes hasn’t been easy for me. In fact, I think change in general, more often than not, is quite difficult. It is especially challenging if you don’t have a goal, a plan of action, or support. Which brings me to the reason for creating this “Tara Tom 30 Day Challenge”

Lately, I have been feeling like I’m in a need of some change. My diet has been all over the place, I’ve been frustrated with my meals, and I feel like I’m just getting by in life versus LIVING. If you have been following me on YouTube, you’ve seen that I’ve been trying to set some goals but obviously struggling to achieve them.

So over the weekend, I did some thinking and realized I was setting my goal way too high. That resulted in me feeling overwhelmed and my mind began to believe in the thought of, “I CANT DO THIS”! This sometimes happens when you have a big life-changing goal. Don’t worry, all of this is normal and can be easily fixed, (I promise, I go through this all the time). All you need to do is adjust your goal or what I like to do is create a step 1 towards my goal. Focusing on getting to step 1 is sometimes a lot easier than trying to leap forward. Sometimes there’s just one step while other times you may need step 2, 3, 4 and so on. It really doesn’t matter how many steps you take. What matters more is that you keep moving forward instead of giving up.

It is said that a new habit takes 21 days to form, but a new study released says it takes 66 days to form and may take up to 254 days until it is fully formed (click here to read about it, as well as see tips on planning a successful 21 days). I personally find that 21 days isn’t quite enough time for me and quite frankly, I like saying I did something for a month rather than 21 days. Sounds more of an accomplishment, or at least it feels that way.

With that in mind, I decided to set a goal for the next 30 Days. Previously, I mentioned that change is difficult, but can be easier if you have these 3 things: 1. Goal 2. Plan of Action and 3. Support. So here’s how I’m going to make a change.

  • Goal: To eat more healing foods and go completely fat free for 30 days
  • Plan of Action: Keep a food journal. Write down every food I eat. Next to it write down one way it helps to support my body. Keep track of how I physically and emotionally feel so I am able to observe my body heal.
  • Support: To hold myself accountable I am going to post about it daily on my IG. It is something I found very effective in the beginning of my healing journey. I am also hoping that by doing so, I may inspire one other person to join me. That way I can have a partner along the way which will be awesome support to my journey. If not I have also shared this with my husband and he is ready to cheer me on.

Eating with purpose is a skill that can benefit anyone who is healing regardless of their symptoms. Being mindful of what we put in our bodies can set us on a path to support our bodies. As we all try to navigate through this pandemic, it is safe to say our bodies can use all the support it can get.

Inspired to start??? I hope so!!! All you need to do to join is head on over to my IG and follow my account. I want to support you, so go on, share pictures of your journey, your food, your daily lists, or whatever fills your heart with happiness. Just be sure to tag me in the photo, add my IG handle in your message, and use the hashtag #taratom30daychallenge ….this will help me to find you so we can connect and cheer each other on!

Now I wanted to make this as stress free as possible so I went a step further to help. Below I have included a link that will take you to a webpage that has lists full of healing fruits, vegetables, and superfoods that will support the body. I also shared an example of an outline that I use in my food journal. Feel free to save the picture or use it as a guide to create your own.

I’m beyond excited for this and am looking forward to seeing what the next 30 days will bring. Hopefully, I’ll get to see your journey as well. Sending tons of healing love and light to each and every one of you!

Below is also an example of my food journal set up. You don’t need a fancy notebook or app. Just get a pen/pencil and some paper or you could use your phone to take notes. Find what works for you, because if it isn’t easily accessible you won’t use it. I learned that lesson early on.
