Update 06/2017 & My Story

I know I haven’t written on here for awhile. I sort of stopped due to it taking so much energy of which I did not have. But now that healing has happened I am able to come back and share that this time…FINALLY I have found a lifestyle that not only works but has saved my life.

Here is my story…

| MY STORY |

Today I wanted to share my story to give hope to those who feel lost and defeated from trying to find a way to heal their chronic illnesses. Yes I too have had a long journey, one that has stripped me down to having nothing.

I was diagnosed with eczema at around 3 months old. Since then I have dealt with dermatologist after dermatologist each trying to figure out a way to help me. Unfortunately none of them had the knowledge, and they just did what they learned they should do. Basically when in doubt prescribe a steroid to reduce inflammation. Well at age 13 my skin got so bad that the doctor told me I don’t think your skin will ever go back to normal, it will probably scar. Now these are the people that are supposed to help me but instead of providing hope they were saying things like you are allergic to the sun, allergic to your sweat, you should live with only plastic…!!! Yes I was told to live with only plastic because my dust mite score on a scale of 0-100 (100 being highly allergic), was 1895😳. These words left me feeling completely hopeless and lost.

But something inside of me said go find your own way to heal. Which lead me to 4 years of researching natural remedies and adapting numerous diets…gluten free, alkaline diet, vegan, and even an “I quit sugar” one which was basically a paleo diet. I totally thought I was on the right track until 2015 when everything (which was already slowly deteriorating) came crashing down. My eczema flared up on my face, neck and arms, I felt faint all the time, I couldn’t exercise, I couldn’t walk for more then 10 mins, my toes were always frozen, my hair was falling out, my nails were brittle, I had tightness in my chest, and I couldn’t be in the sun for longer than 10 mins without feeling nauseous.

Lost and no where to turn, I prayed. Prayed for help, prayed for God to show me what to do because I lost everything. I could no longer work nor could I leave the house, I was that sick. Well…my prayers were answered and Anthony William the Medical Medium came into my life. I’ve learned from him the root cause of my illnesses, the normalcy of healing and how to heal. I can truthfully say I feel 10 times better now then I did a year ago. These days I can be in the sun for 30 mins, I can go out for 2-3 hours, I walk daily for 35 mins, my hair doesn’t fall out as much, my toes aren’t frozen all the time, no more tightness in the chest, I don’t feel faint all the time and eczema flareups are pretty much obsolete. I may get one every now and then but literally my last one healed in a day.

It has been 17 months since I incorporated everything I learned from Anthony and let me just tell you no other lifestyle has left me feeling completely happy and full of ENERGY. All the previous ones only lasted for about 2 months and they have never left me feeling confident that I was going to heal. I still have more to heal but with the success I have had I KNOW I will. From the bottom of my heart I would like to say 🌟THANK YOU🌟to Anthony, for he literally has saved my life!!!

Doing a Juice Fast Can Help to Fight EBV

People doing juice fasts have become more and more popular over the years. They are heavily advertised among celebrities, yogis, vegans, and those who are seeking healing through natural remedies. Commonly these juice fasts are attractive due to the many benefits it provides. It can help to clear up your skin, provide your body with more energy and it may even assist in losing some unwanted weight. These all hold true and can make doing a juice fast very enticing.

Doing a juice fast may be far more powerful than you may think. Through reading the Medical Medium book I was able to understand the more healing aspect of it. For me, doing a juice fast helped to give my weak liver a break which in turned allowed it to slowly heal. Also by removing food, I was able to let my digestive system rest. Since the body didn’t need to digest food, it was able to put more energy and focus on flushing out pesticides, viruses and toxins. Getting rid of pesticides and toxins are quite important as they are the main food source for viruses. As you kill off these viruses you also end up eliminating their by product called neurotoxins or dermatoxins (kind of like virus poop). These neurotoxins and dermatoxins cause all kinds of issues such as brain fog, internal pain or even rashes on the skin.

It is for those reasons I decided to do a couple of these juice fasts. Basically is like pressing the NOS button on a race car. By doing this fast it can help to accelerate your detox process. You may experience some detox symptoms due to large amounts of toxins being released all at once. So you will want to provide your body with the right nutrition to assist you and ease those symptoms. Anthony the Medical Medium recommends juicing 16-20 ounces of celery, cucumber, and apples. This will provide you with enough hydration, mineral salts and glucose you need to safely detox. You will make 6 of these juices and drink 1 every 2 hours. In between that he suggests to consume 16-20 ounces of water which will also help to facilitate the flushing. If this is your first time fasting or doing any type of cleanse he recommends to only do this for about 1-2 days. This fast is quite safe and can be done every 2 weeks.

Cleansing or fasting is not an easy thing to do and at times can be quite uncomfortable. I highly recommend that you clean up your diet before hand and allow the body to do some detoxing prior to your fast. You can do that by adopting a low-fat plant-based diet for about a week before your fast. Know that this juice fast will be eliminating toxins that have been sitting in your organs for awhile. The intensity of symptoms will be determined by how much toxins are being released. Always go at a comfortable pace for yourself and work with your doctor if you are battling health issues as well.

I have found a great website that goes over each stage of juicing. It describes what your body will be experiencing during each stage in detail. Educating myself on this definitely provided me some relief. I was surely glad to know that whatever was happening to my body was normal and just part of the fast. Here is the link for that site: http://www.juicefasting.org/detox.htm

Educating yourself is very important to the success of your healing. It truly did wonders for mine. My digestion got better, my skin looks amazing and energy is coming back. All great signs that I am beating this Epstein Barr Virus. I hope that this posts ignites the fire under you and bring out your inner detective self to explore the wonderful benefits of juice fasts.

Epstein Barr Virus

img_5281
Many of you have never heard of the Epstein Barr Virus, yet it is the most common cause of all mystery illnesses. There are over 60 varieties of it and over 225 million Americans that have some form of it. EBV is either the cause or part of the reason for Lupus, Hashimoto’s disease, Fibromyalgia, Tinnitus, Vertigo, Anxiety, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, and the list goes on. If it is so common you might be questioning then why don’t we hear more about this virus. Unfortunately, most doctors have no idea how this virus operates in the long-term and it is quite difficult to diagnose after it reaches a certain stage.

Having Epstein Barr Virus can be so frustrating and devastating to your soul. It can leave you feeling completely hopeless. I have had it ever since I was a baby. The first signs of it was when I had a super high fever that caused me to be emitted to the ER. The doctors thought nothing of it and treated it as just a high fever. But little did anyone know that was just the beginning signs of EBV. As the years went on more and more health issues surfaced sending me to numerous doctors visits. Each visit felt like the doctors were playing a guessing game. After every visit I would leave the doctor’s office with instructions to try something new and was always told, “See if this helps.” Sometimes it worked but most times it was just a temporary fix and that meant returning back to the doctor for another try at something else.

If you are one that can relate to this then I’m so happy you are reading this. I am here to share with you that there is help and you can heal. After reading The Medical Medium book I felt like he wrote this book just for me!!!! Anthony William pin pointed the reason for every health issue I have and had ever experienced. I was not only able to find the cause of my issues, but I was also able to learn about reasons why my family and friends were suffering. This newfound knowledge gave me a huge sense of relief, that I wasn’t making it up and that there really was a cause. It is like Anthony gave me a gift, and that gift was my 🌟LIFE🌟!!! Please….Educate yourself on this virus you’ll be amazed on how many answers you’ll find and how many loved ones you will be able to help.

I am not an expert nor do I have any credentials in this area. I am just a person who suffered with chronic illnesses and have been on a search to heal myself. Now that I have found a way to do this I am here to share it. I want to share my journey to educate others and show them that you can heal. I encourage you to share this post to those who are suffering and especially to those who lost hope. You can heal, and I am here to show you that.

Sending love to all of you,
Tara

Healthy Changes Can Be Easy, Affordable & Quick

img_8678
So as I mentioned in the previous post, healing can happen at many different levels. As far as how strict you will need to be with your diet, will be determine by what your body really needs. My advice to you is to keep it simple. This is the same advice and the most helpful suggestion that I gave to the 2 subjects in that previous post. Try not to make this process any more difficult than it really needs to be. Just find a couple of recipes to your liking and rotate them so don’t get bored.

The biggest mistake I found was me thinking that out of the blue I would become this renowned vegan chef. I’m going to be honest…I really held those standards for myself!!! I don’t know why I thought that everything needed to be fancy and some decadent meal. All I did was make things so difficult and super EXPENSIVE. This left me feeling defeated and absolutely frustated. Well over time that thought got old quite quickly as my bank account rapidly decreased. It was at this point that I was forced to get creative and be smart about managing my food costs. This was the pivotable moment for me where I learned it was easier and cheaper if I stuck to the basics and kept my meals simple.

As I went through the these challenges I noticed that I was not the only one experiencing these things. Other people were sharing stories of similar struggles. Which is why I thought I would share some tips that may helped my transition be a little smoother.

Here are some tips that I found useful that either helped to keep costs down or made preparing meals a little easier:

-Make smoothies! This is a great way to get a number of fruits all in one meal. They are easy to make because you can prep everything before and then just toss them in the blender when ready. This is also great to take with you if you are in a rush and are limited in your time especially in the morning. You can sip on it as you wash dishes, get the children ready or while you are on your ride to work.

-Buy organic frozen fruits. They are already washed, chopped and prepped for the blender. Another great plus is that they can last in the freezer for months. Frozen organic fruits are now carried in most grocery stores so they shouldn’t be to hard to find. The best place I like to get them from is Costco because you can get them for a good price.

-Make simple green salads with a bunch of lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Then top it with your favorite healthy dressing. Keep in mind the dressing is really what makes a delicious salad. So take the time to find a couple of healthy dressings that tickle your taste buds. I choose to make my own dressing because most of them are filled with too much oil, salt or sugar.

-Pick foods that take minimal time to prepare like bananas, grapes, apples, blueberries or pears. These saves a ton of time and you don’t need a recipe to make them into a meal. They are my go to snacks or sometimes I just eat a bunch of them if I don’t have enough time to make a meal. These are also food I eat if I’m too lazy to make anything or don’t want to wash any dishes.

I hope that this will help make your transition to good health an easier one. If you have any other tips please feel free to leave them in the comments below as I would love to learn more tips as well!!!!!

Sending love to all of you,
Tara

3 Different People, 3 Different Diets and 1 Common Goal

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Out of all the different diets I’ve tried, the Medical Medium lifestyle seems to be the best guide to good health. Anthony William author of the Medical Medium book teaches us about the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables and how it heals our bodies. In his book, he explains how these foods can restore your central nervous system, provide liver support, or relieve chronic pain. I find that it is perfect everyone because it works with all types of diets (i.e. paleo, vegan, etc.). Anthony is all about healing the body and providing it with the proper nutrients it needs in order to be healthy. He states that a low-fat plant-based diet is the optimal way to fuel your body. By decreasing our fat intake, we give our liver a break and allow it to detox on a deeper level. And by consuming the most nutrient dense foods which are fruits and vegetables we are providing the best support for our bodies.

Luckily, while I changed my lifestyle people around me decided to make some changes as well. Over time I observed something quite interesting. I realized that every person didn’t need to be as strict as my diet. They were able to have success despite the modifications I made for them and they were able to heal quite quickly. We made modifications to help make it comfortable for them and to reassure that they would stick to the changes.

Below are 3 different people’s health concerns, their diets and how long each of them took to heal.

1. My Diet:

My Health Concerns:
Eczema, Adrenal Fatigue and Epstein Barr Virus

Foods I Avoided:
Eggs, Meat, Dairy, Canola Oil, Refined Sugar, MSG, Processed Foods, Seafood, Gluten, Whey, Corn, and Soy

My Meal Plan:
In the morning I drink 16 oz of Celery Juice.
Breakfast and Lunch are just a ton of fruits. Either in a smoothie or just eaten as is.
Dinners are usually vegetables. I’ll have a salad or steamed veggies. If I’m feeling okay I’ll sometimes have roasted veggies over some brown rice.
Snacks are always some kind of fruit.
I try to be mindful about fat intake so I don’t eat a lot of coconut oil, olive oil, nuts or even avocados. My goal is to heal my weak liver so decreasing my fat intake allows my liver to cleanse and detox.

Length of Time to See Results:
It has been 5 months since I began all of these restrictions and I am currently still healing. But I will share that I have seen numerous changes and most of my symptoms have decreased as far as severity. You can read more about my journey in my previous posts.

2. Subject 2’s Diet:

Subject 2’s Health Concern:
Migraines, Severe Sinus Allergies, Weight Gain, Fatigue

Foods Avoided:
Eggs, Dairy, Canola Oil, Refined Sugar, MSG, Processed Foods, Gluten, Whey, Corn, and Soy

Meal Plan:
Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks were all fruits or vegetables. The subject did not have a blender so all fruits and vegetable were just cut and eaten.
Dinner was the one time of day that meat was consumed.

Length of Time to See Results:
In 2 months the subject had no migraines, allergies were completely gone, had a ton of energy and lost 10 pounds of unwanted weight (with no exercise).

3. Subject 3’s Diet:

Subject 3’s Health Concern:
Chronic Pain in the Knee, Barely able to walk, Can’t sleep at night due to the pain in the knee, Doctor was unable to find the source of the problem, Next step was knee surgery

Foods Avoided:
None

Meal Plan:
Breakfast was a vegan protein shake made with Sun Warrior Vegan Protein Powder and almond milk.
Lunch was completely open to anything but kept to the idea of eating clean, making sure it was lower in fat and not processed.
Dinner was either a salad or steam/roasted veggies over brown rice.
Everyday the subject consumed one green juice and one fruit smoothie.
All snacks were replaced with either fruits or nuts.

Length of Time to See Results:
In 1 month the subject had little to no pain their knee. Subject was finally able to sleep at night and able to start using the stationary bike for exercise. Also subject had an increase in muscle definition.

So as you can see healing can happen at many different levels. You don’t necessarily need to be as strict as I am. Unfortunately, I have been living with this my entire life and I created an unhealthy environment by what I chose to eat. So I have 20 plus years of healing to do. Now with that being said, you can understand why I need to be strict and why it’s taking some time to heal. You on the other hand may be like these 2 subjects and just need a little help. So allowing some meat or some gluten into your diet is okay. How strict you need to be with your diet will definitly be determined by your body’s health.
I hope that by sharing these stories I was able to inspire you to try and make small changes in your life. You now know that healing can happen even if you don’t eat exactly the same way I do. So make some changes and make sure to comment below on your successes. I would love to read about them!!!

Don't Let Yourself Quit Before You Start

IMG_8128
Changing the way we eat can be very daunting. Eating is a huge part of our everyday life. So to me changing the way we eat, is as big as changing jobs or moving to a new place to live. But as we know when time goes on, we get comfortable with that change. It tends to get easier and it starts to become the norm.

If you were asked the question, “Do you want to be healthy?”….I know that almost 99% of you would automatically say, “Yes”. Wanting to be or feel healthy isn’t the problem. The hesitation or block for most of us lies in the lack of knowledge on what to eat, how to prepare it, how to keep it in our budget and how to fit it in our busy schedules. Those questions alone make us quit before we even start.

I know that there are a ton of information on the internet on where to begin, beginner meal plans, or grocery shopping on a budget…. you can educate yourself on everything you need to succeed. But researching and reading all this information can take a ton of time and be totally overwhelming. For me this was a huge block. I felt the need to be an expert (or just really knowledgeable) in order to succeed. I also wanted every tool possible like spiralizer, juicer, and even a dehydrator. But looking back at this, I am realizing this was just another excuse I was making for myself. Just another block in the road.

As you can see, all of those questions and uncertainty comes from within. We are the ones who create the sense of difficulty. I want to share that if you keep it simple and make small changes you can achieve your goal of being healthy. I get a ton of people who are interested in the way I choose to eat, which is awesome, because that means they are possibly looking to make some changes. But the most common reply after they inquire is “I don’t think I could do it”. I’m here to tell you “Yes, you can!”

In my next post I’m going to share with you the journey of 3 people with 3 different diets. Each were able to make a change and achieve the 1 common goal….to heal and live a healthy life. Stayed tuned for the next post!!!

PB and J Smoothie

IMG_7750
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches really remind me of being a kid. As I was thinking back to my youthful years, I remember how free I felt. I lived my life with no fears and felt like skies were the limit. My imagination was as big as the universe. I would constantly create things either by playing “make believe” or I would color in my coloring books all the time. So I decided to try and recreate that flavor by experimenting with this smoothie. Low and behold it came out fantastic. It is so delicious and I love it even more because it brings back all those feelings and memories of being free.

Ingredients
1 cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Milk
3 pitted Medjool Dates
1 TBSP of unsweetened Almond Butter (I used unsalted almond butter so I added a pinch of salt to bring out the flavor)
1 tsp of Barley Grass Juice Powder
2 Frozen Bananas
1 1/2 cups of frozen Wild Blueberries

Put all ingredients in the blender and blend.

Hope you enjoy this delicious smoothie as much as I do!

Simple Banana Oat Cookies

IMG_7539
Thank you to a dear friend of mine who sent me a link to this recipe from Tastemade. These are the easiest and fastest cookies to make. They are vegan, gluten free, oil free, nut free and they contain no refined sugars. These aren’t your typical crispy cookies but the flavor is absolutely delicious. The texture is soft, almost like a banana bread. I love these convenient snacks they make it so easy to just them grab and go.

Ingredients:
2 Ripe Bananas
2 cup Gluten Free Oats
1/2 cup non sulfured, no added sugar raisins
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven 356 F and bake for 20-25 mins

First mash up the bananas until there are no chucks. Then add all other ingredients and mix. Divide the batter into 4 parts and place each one on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. The batter is sticky so carefully form them into round mounds and flatten each one to form a cookie shape. Bake at 356F for about 20-25 mins.

Hope you enjoy these yummy cookies!

Berry Boost Smoothie

IMG_7022
This smoothie is one of my favorite ones that I drink every day. It is a crutial part of my heavy metal detox. In this one smoothie I am able to get 2 of the 5 critical foods that are great in expelling heavy metals out of the body.

Recipe:
1 cup of frozen Wild Blueberries
1/2 cup of frozen Raspberries
4 Medjool Dates
1 Banana
2 TBSP of Hemp Seeds
1/4 tsp of turmeric
1 tsp of Barley Grass Juice Powder
1 tsp of Wheat Grass Powder
1/2 cup to 1 cup of water

First, I fill the blender with 1/2 cup of water. Then I add the banana, hemp seeds, turmeric, barley grass, wheat grass and dates. Last I add all the frozen fruits so that they avoid the heat from the blender. This method is known to help keep the frozen fruits cold so that they are able to keep more of their nutrients.

If the consistency is too thick then add more water and blend again. The texture is based on preference and on what I am having. I usually like it thicker for a smoothie bowl that I top with fruits. But if i’m in the mood for a smoothie I’ll add more water.

If you get to try this or have any smoothie favorites please feel free to share them in the comments below. Happy Healing!!!!

Update 06/30/2016

IMG_6934
Finally, after 3 rounds of the Medical Medium cleanse I had concrete proof that I was moving in the right direction. With such great improvements, I decided to continue and remain on this low-fat, plant-based lifestyle. I shifted my perception and am now embracing the fact that this is the way I need to live in order to heal. Unsure of how long it will take for me to restore my health, I decided to continue this until I am healthy. In fact, I feel so good, I may never go back to the way I ate. After looking back and reflecting on what I have been through, I thought to myself, “Why would I want to return to it?”.

Today I am celebrating 75 days of living this lifestyle. YES, you read it correctly, lifestyle NOT diet. I am now calling it a lifestyle because I have accepted the fact that this is the way I need to live for awhile. The way I lived prior to this resulted in the decline of my health. I wouldn’t be facing these health challenges if my choices were better. So as of right now, I am not going to look at this way of eating as a “Short Term” goal. Instead I am welcoming the idea that I am now a plant based eater. I really needed to make this lifestyle change a long time ago, unfortunately it took the decline of my health to force me to do it. But even though I had so many challenges I also experienced many positives changes as well.

Here are a list of those changes:
-digestion has dramatically changed
-I lost unwanted weight
-saw another increase in the level of my energy
-my body has an easier time adjusting to Hot/Cold temperatures
-I no longer have that white film on my tongue (FYI that is usually caused by consuming dairy)
-I don’t crave for sugary snacks…in fact my sweet cravings are more than satisfied with fruit
-my skin is on its way towards healing. I still am experiencing the dry and flaky skin but as Anthony William the Medical Medium mentioned eczema happens in cycles. I still get the flare ups or dry skin, which heals, and then it returns but not as severe.

I am beyond grateful and completely ecstatic with these results. It is by far the best change, cleanse, diet or whatever you want to call it… THING, I have done. Most of the ones I have tried in the past didn’t last more than 2 months. But I’ve been on this one for 75 days and counting. Honestly, I can not believe it has been that long!
Even though so many positive things have happened regarding eczema I still have to heal from the Epstein Barr virus. I haven’t spoken much about the symptoms and problems I am dealing with because I wanted to focus on the positives. So when I am completely well I will definitely be sharing with you those experiences. Until next post….Let’s live in the present and be grateful for our blessings. Happy Healing to all of you!!!

Tara
